Welcome to another episode of Sounding Out The City...
This week is gonna be a bit different than what you've been used to if you're a regular listener to the series.
This week I present a mix I did back in 2003 while I was living in Toronto and going through a big Mr. Scruff phase.
This mix is a selection of very spacey, very jazzy, very psychedelic hiphop instrumentals.
So, if you like Mr. Scruff, Madlib, MF Doom, Danny Breaks, Backini, DJ Numark, Exile and other weirdo-jazz hiphop sounds, you'll like this mix.
Unfortunately, I don't have a playlist, but I can identify many of the tracks if you have any questions about what you hear.
The other thing about this mix is that it's just short of 42 minutes in length--which is longer than the usual 30 minutes I play out.
I hope you enjoy listening to it the first time, but I think it is a mix that calls for repeated plays.
So set your players to "repeat", and have some people over at your place for a cool-out while you've got this on in the background. Or maybe just play it on that bus ride to wherever you're headed.
'Til next week, peace and best wishes.

Thanks for the feedback!! It's nice knowing I have people out there listening.
Anyway, the track at the 15:00 minute mark is by DJ Numark and is called "Melody". There's also a version out there where someone rhymes over it, but I don't know who.
The track at 9:00 is something by Danny Breaks--and I believe it's called Astral Vibes...not 100% sure.
Also, you got good taste because those are the 2 tracks on this mix that do it for me.
Cheers
