I don't know how the tiebreakers work for the Gold Cup, but I'd rather finish first than take the chance on finishing 3rd. Whoever is 3rd will play Mexico or the US (assuming they win their divisions), whereas 2nd will likely get Honduras (unless there's a miracle game, either Haiti vs US, or Grenada vs Honduras)
