Part 4: "Are You the Christ?" - Mark 14:53-72
In this passage, Jesus' answer to the high priest's question causes the whole room to go nuts. Before this, his accusers had heard contradictory testimony and had little evidence to convict Jesus. But Jesus gave them all the evidence they needed to condemn Him to death. He claimed not only to be the Messiah, but something far, far greater. Jesus said, "You will see me, the Son of Man seated at the right hand of Power and coming with the clouds of heaven."
In this dramatic courtroom-like scene Jesus tells His human judges His true identity. He is the Son of Man, the final Divine Judge over all things pictured in Daniel 7:9-14. Ironically, these human beings have their moment before the One who will Judge them at the end of days--and they blindly judge Him, condemning Him to death.
