"Mishna, Motorcycles, Man or Chicken?" John 18:14-40

Picture it in your head; Peter has just denied the Messiah for the third time, and the rooster crows in the distance...
Does the image in your head include the 'cock-a-doodle-do' of a rooster? According to the Mishna, there were no chickens in Jerusalem. This poses a problem in light of the Gospel account, which says that a rooster crowed immediately after the third time Peter denied Christ... or does it? The Mishna goes on to say that the "cock crowing" was a man who called out with a loud voice that the Temple sacrifices were about to begin.
Of course, this does not change the story, but it does put a different image in your head!
This week, we also learn about Jesus being traded for Barabbas - a man, who's name coincidently means "son of the father." in Aramaic. There is also reason to believe that Barabbas' name was Jesus. Jesus Barabbas. How interesting it is that Jesus, the Son of our Father in heaven was crucified in place of "Jesus, Son of the Father" the robber.
...So where do motorcycles come into the equation? You'll have to download to find out!

May the Lord bless you and keep you,

Shabbat Shalom!

Please be praying for us as we start to make the transition! In the meantime, we will continue to upload our weekly service at this location... Lord willing.
